Heracles vs Heerenveen

Number six Heracles Almelo lost to Feyenoord (2-1) last weekend despite a goal by Drost. The Almeloërs want to qualify for the Play-Offs for a European ticket and that just seems to work. It was sensational at the start of the season what Heracles showed. Later that became less spectacular, but just good and solid what the tukers do. In Almelo people had to look for years at how FC Twente regional companion had great successes. With a policy that was not built on castles in the air, Heracles could outpace the fallen greatness. And that’s good.

SC Heerenveen was once a nice proud club that delivered excellent performances just below the traditional top three. The Champions League once sounded anthem in the Abe Lenstra Stadium. The chance of recurrence is not great. Certainly not if one continues as in the past months.

Trainer Olde Riekerink was punished for disappointing performance, but let’s not forget that it is difficult to work at a club where every time it is a mess among fallen bobos who think they have invented the wheel. Heerenveen played a draw against FC Groningen last weekend.
